Kind of strange, but as a Christian, I have something called a testimony. It’s the beautiful story of how I met God and how He transformed my life. He loved me just as I was, but thankfully, He loved me too much to let me stay that way.
Well…I have a new kitchen! And, not to spiritualize everything, but my kitchen has a testimony too!!
First, one thing you should know about me. I’m the mama of 11 children, and people are always trying to figure me out. Have I had multiple husbands? Are there twins or triplets? Am I Mormon or Catholic? Am I crazy? (Maybe. 😉)
Nope! Same husband, whom, evidently I’m crazy about and 11 individual pregnancies. Just one very blessed woman.Thats me!
I have lived in my kitchen for the past 28 years. It’s where I’ve had the privilege of loving on—not only to my family, but to their friends and to everyone who has walked through our doors. The kitchen truly is the heart of a home.
One day I was at HomeGoods buying a chair. An elderly Italian gentleman watched me load it into my giant 15-passenger van. He asked why I drove such a large vehicle. I smiled and said, “I have a bunch of children.”
His next question was not an unusual follow up, “What does your husband do?”
“He’s a pastor,” I replied.
He looked me in the eyes with such understanding and said, “God bless you. You never leave the kitchen, and your husband must spend all his time solving other people’s problems.”
I hugged that dear man and whispered, “You nailed it.”
For 28 years I loved my simple builder-grade kitchen and never dreamed of remodeling it. Then I walked into Bespoken Cottage.
A friend had received an outrageous kitchen quote, but Kim saved her nearly $100,000, and the finished kitchen was stunning. I decided to get a quote too.
To my surprise, Kim’s custom kitchen came in at a better price than an equal quote from Home Depot for significantly lower-quality materials. After a few unexpected financial blessings, we cut her a check!
What happened next amazed me.
On Monday, Kim’s team removed my old kitchen. Tuesday, the cabinets were installed. Wednesday, the countertops were measured. The following Wednesday, my beautiful quartz countertops were installed, and by Thursday I had running water again. Ten days from demolition to a functioning kitchen!
I had expected the quality to be excellent, but what impressed me just as much were the people. The cabinet installers, countertop installers, painters, electricians, and plumbers were hardworking, trustworthy, skilled, respectful, and kind. Every day they left my home cleaner than they found it.
When everything was complete, Kim personally returned, walked through every detail, and made a punch list. The very next day her team came back and completed every single item. That kind of customer service is almost impossible to find today.
My kitchen belongs to the Lord, just like everything else I have. It exists for His good purposes and His glory.
Having a kitchen designed around the way I actually live has made hospitality even easier. The thoughtful details have made cooking more practical and genuinely enjoyable. I never thought I’d say this, but I actually enjoy cleaning my kitchen now! My former cabinets were so beat that even when I clean them, it didn’t look much different.
For 28 years, God taught me contentment in a simple kitchen. Then, in His kindness, He gave me a new one—not because I deserved it, but because He delights in giving good gifts to His children.
If you’re looking for a company with integrity, exceptional craftsmanship, fair pricing, incredible attention to detail, and people who genuinely care about their customers, I cannot recommend Kim and Bespoken Cottage highly enough. This kitchen is a daily reminder of God’s faithfulness, and I will always be grateful that He used Bespoken Cottage to make it possible.
